Today is my daughters 11th birthday and even though I had a lot of running around to do I still had time to go to the gym. No actually i INSISTED on going to the gym. This is starting to become 2nd nature to me and I guess I see it as a pretty big accomplishment. Kathy "mamma" Schmidt was talking on her blog the other day about how she does interval training on the treadmill to keep her heart rate up. Well that inspired me to at least tried it. It lasted for about 5 minutes before the pain in my foot became unbearable (I have severe arthritis in one of my joints. I have to get the bones fused next year). I changed things up to the Elipitical and let's just say my heart rate stayed up with no problem. I have always want to do a "traditional " sit up but my core is weak so I cannot do it without putting 18 pound weights on my feet. That is exactly what I did. I did 20 sit up. It may have taken me 15 minutes ( I could on do 3 at a time before I had to stop and rest and get my strength back) but I figure this is a goal I can work for. I have also figured out the correct way to do squats because my tush and back end muscles hurt so bad. You never thought having to sit down to have to go potty would hurt so so much . I did weigh today and as usually the scale is moving at a snails pace backwards. To say that I am frustrated is an understatement. This coming weekend is going to be interesting. My daughter is having friends over Saturday to celebrate her birthday which is going to equal junk food. Friends and family are coming over Sunday and that should be a little better because the majority of them are so healthy conscious. I guess that is why they are skinny as a rail (I am so jealous). My short term goal is to get to 170 before thanksgiving. Right now I am at 176. I hope I can make it. Well I have rambles on enough here. Good night and good luck to everyone.
