Ok I know I cannot use this site for medical advise but I am looking for suggestions. I do a body pump class on Tuesdays/Thursdays which is basically using free weights and a bar and working different muscle groups. Well I guess I used too much weight when we did our back track on Tuesday (I have a weak lower back). It was bothering me a little bit but unfortunately I have the mindset "good" pain good workout. So by the afternoon on Thursday I couldn't hardly move with discomfort. Yeah so much for good pain . This happened to me once before but under a different circumstance. My PCP gave my a muscle relaxer (cannot remember the name) and some tramadol. I have been taking those and to no avail. Last time I went to go see a chiropractor and he was able to help. That is all fine and dandy except that my chiropractor benefits have run out for the year. That is my story and I am sticking to it:). Ok choose 180 friends HELP please. I hATE not being able to get to the gym!!!!! Love to everyone AG

Ouch! Back pain is the pits. As soon as Jeff gets home from work I'll have him read this and see what he thinks. He has stretches for pretty much everything so hopefully he'll know something that could alleviate the pain. <3

I don't want to be gone from the gym for too long. How are things going with you and your exercise routine? I am guessing that Jeff is going to make you guys a fancy Thanksgiving Dinner. Are you having friends and family over or is it just you guys?

No problem. I hope he knows something that'll help. I'be been out of the workout routine myself. I go through spurts of joint pain and my knees have been killing me. My Dr. tested me for everything under the sun and nothing came back positive which is good and bad. :\ Trying to keep on track by eating well, though. We're actually going to my inlaws for Thanksgiving but Jeff is cooking there. What do you and your family have planned?

What kind of problems are you having with your knees exactly??? Are you seeing a specialist for this? My husband is having the exact same problem and his orthopedic dr referred him to an RA dr. Comes to find out he has RA. When he has a flare up his joints really bother him. My sister in law has a thanksgiving brunch in the morning and then another one of my inlaws hosts Thanksgiving dinner in the evening. Will you be out shopping on Black Friday?? I have found the wonderful world of Amazon and was able to find a lot of Amelia's stuff there. I REFUSE to get out in that insanity on Black Friday. I don't need anything that bad

Oh, goodness! You're not being nosey at all! The oint pain hurts no matter what: whether I'm sitting, walking, legs straight or crossed. I'm just never comfortable. It started out in all my joints but seems to be the worst in my knees. I was tested for RA but it came back negative. My Dr. also tested me for Lupus since I have Celiac disease and autoimmune likes to run in pairs, also came back negative. That sounds like a nice way to spend Thanksgiving. I have never been out on Black Friday. Not on purpose, anyway. I went out one Black Friday on accident, I'll never do that again! I'm not big on crowds. I would rather pay the extra money for something than try and fight a crowd! I love online shopping, so much easier!

Ok, so Jeff said the best thing you can do is to rest your back. He also said to slow work into doing a full Cobra yoga pose. Don't try and push yourself too far right of the bat but do a little more each day. I tried it myself and it really does stretch the lower back so hopefully that will help.

I have no patients and don't like the idea about being down and out. I can tell you one lesson I have learned from this experience. Next time we do the back track in class I WILL be using less weight!!!!! I have to tell you I feel like such a wimp in this class. All of the other women in the class load up their bars with this residulous amount of weights and I think the most weight I use at one time is 10 pounds (ohhhhhh watch out for me) I usually try to stay in the back of the class because I get so embarrassed but I really do love the class. I also got those think thin Carmel bars and there is a possibility I like those Better the. The chocolate fudge. Or I could say I love them both equally. Thank you so much for the suggestion. It is really nice to have someone to bounce ideas thoughts feels and suggestions off of someone. I hope it is ok with you that I do that??? Long time I haven't meet you yet but I feel like I know you friendship from New Jersey to at Louis. It can work . So have you at least had a chance to use your wii or have you been to busy to even do any activities on that. It is really OK. Once things settle down a little bit you will have time to do it. Either that or you will have to somehow make the time to do it. You need to start training for your 10K that you are participating in next year. Can never get started on that too eaRly. I am so jealous. I can hardly do a 5K and you are taking on a 10k. You will have to let me know your training secrets. I was just thinking about something we will have to find a way to delete this thread once we are finished so that none of the other members can read it. I mean I don't have anything to hide. It is up to you

No problem. :-) Hope that you're feeling better quickly.
You need to stop feeling like a wimp! You're taking a class that you love. Everyone is there for the same reason and no matter how much weight you use, your still working out. Move your butt to the middle of that class and then to the front. Before you know it, you'll be teaching the class! ;-)
I love that we can bounce ideas off each other! Like you said, even though we haven't met, we are friends. :-)
I haven't had the mojo to get myself going. As of right now, I'm feeling pretty well so I have plans on working out when I get home. I will be out of work by 5:00 and have no errands to run so I'll be home by 5:30, more than enough time to workout before dinner.
You really have no need to be jealous of my 10K prospect, I'm pretty sure I'm going to die about 3/4 of the way through! :-P I'm just getting worked up to a ok 5K. I quite honestly don't have any training secrets other than to just push myself to do it. My husband literally started by just getting up and running one day so I'm trying to work off of his inspiration. Though I very much enjoy the coziness of my warm bed on these 16 degree mornings we've been having!
I don't think we need to delete the thread. It'll provide entertainment for others. ;-)
